The short version
Apollo Group TV runs on anything that can install a player app — Fire TV, Android and Google TV, Apple TV, Samsung and LG smart TVs, MAG and Formuler boxes, phones, tablets and Windows. There is no Apollo app to hunt for: you install a standard IPTV player, paste in the credentials we send on WhatsApp, and the channel list and 7-day guide populate themselves. Setup is three to five minutes on most devices. Pick your device below.
Which device is best for IPTV?
Hardware matters more than people expect. A live 4K sports feed at peak time is the hardest thing an IPTV player ever has to do, and that is exactly where an old stick on Wi-Fi gives up.
Best overall value
Fire TV Stick 4K Max
Cheap, universally available, and powerful enough to run TiviMate with a full 7-day guide without stutter. The one caveat is Wi-Fi only — if your router is far from the TV, budget for a powerline adapter.
Setup guide →Best for heavy sports viewing
NVIDIA Shield or onn 4K Pro
Both have Ethernet ports and enough headroom to hold a high-bitrate 4K sports feed at peak time, which is precisely when cheaper hardware starts dropping frames.
Setup guide →Best if you already own Apple
Apple TV 4K
Everything installs from the App Store, playback is the most consistent on this list, and it pairs with the iPhone setup so your favourites follow you between rooms.
Setup guide →Least recommended
Roku
Roku does not permit sideloaded apps, so you lose TiviMate and the good IPTV players entirely. It is workable through mirroring, but if IPTV is your main use, spend CA$50 on a Fire TV Stick instead.
Setup guide →All supported devices
Every card links to a full step-by-step guide with screenshots, the download code where one is needed, and the playback settings we recommend for that hardware.
Streaming sticks
The cheapest way to put Apollo Group TV on a television you already own.
Amazon Fire TV Stick
Enable apps from unknown sources, install Downloader, pull the player app in with a short code, then paste your Apollo playlist. Works on every Fire TV generation, but the 4K Max is the one worth buying.
App: TiviMate or IPTV Smarters Pro
Roku
Roku blocks sideloading, so the setup runs through mirroring from a phone or a store player rather than a direct install. It works, but it is the most restricted device on this list — see the page before you commit to it.
App: Screen mirroring or a channel-store player
onn 4K Pro (Google TV)
The best value box under CA$70 right now. Enough RAM for TiviMate's full guide, an Ethernet port on the Pro model, and no sideloading gymnastics.
App: TiviMate
Streaming boxes
More RAM than a stick, which is what keeps a 7-day EPG and a big channel list responsive.
Android TV & Google TV
Install straight from the Play Store, add your Apollo playlist, done. Also the route for NVIDIA Shield, Chromecast with Google TV and most Android-based projectors.
App: TiviMate
Apple TV
App Store install, no sideloading. tvOS handles playlist switching cleanly and the picture is the most consistent of any device here, which is why Apple households rarely need to change anything after setup.
App: IPTV Smarters Pro or GSE Smart IPTV
MAG & Formuler boxes
No app to install — you enter a portal URL in the box's own settings and we whitelist its MAC address. Slower to start, rock solid once running. Older MAG254 units have their own page.
App: Built-in portal (MAG) / MYTVOnline (Formuler)
Generic Android IPTV boxes
What to look for before you buy one, which chipsets still decode 4K properly, and how to load Apollo on a box that shipped with no Play Store.
App: TiviMate or XCIPTV
Smart TVs
No extra hardware. Fine for most viewers; the app choice is narrower than on Android.
Samsung Smart TV
Install from the Samsung app store, then register the TV's MAC address and load the playlist from the browser. Tizen sets from 2017 onward are supported.
App: Smart IPTV or IPTV Smarters
LG Smart TV
Same pattern as Samsung on webOS: install, register the MAC, upload the playlist. If the guide loads empty, it is almost always the EPG URL rather than the TV.
App: Smart IPTV or Set IPTV
Mobile & tablet
Useful as a second screen and the fastest way to test your credentials the moment they arrive.
iPhone & iPad
App Store install, enter the Xtream Codes login we send you, and everything syncs — including favourites and catch-up. AirPlay covers any TV you have not set up yet.
App: IPTV Smarters Pro
Android phone & tablet
Same login, same three minutes. Handy for checking a channel is live before you troubleshoot the TV it is failing on.
App: IPTV Smarters Pro or XCIPTV
Desktop
For anyone who watches at a desk, or wants a recording setup.
Windows PC
Fastest test of all — paste the M3U URL into VLC and a channel opens. Kodi gives you the full guide and recording if you want more than a quick check.
App: VLC, Kodi or the IPTV Smarters desktop app
Kodi
The most configurable option and the fussiest to set up. Worth it if you want one interface across Windows, Linux, Android and a Raspberry Pi.
App: PVR IPTV Simple Client
Before you buy or set up
Wire the television if you can
The single biggest cause of buffering we see is Wi-Fi, not the stream. An Ethernet cable — or a powerline adapter where a cable will not reach — fixes more playback complaints than every app setting combined.
Buy the current generation
IPTV players are memory-hungry once the guide is populated. A five-year-old stick with 1GB of RAM will run Apollo, but it will feel slow every time you open the channel list.
One app, everywhere
Pick TiviMate on Android-based devices and IPTV Smarters on Apple, then keep it consistent. Your household learns one remote layout instead of four.
Test on your phone first
When your credentials arrive, load them on a phone before you touch the TV. If the stream plays there, any TV-side problem is the device or the network, which narrows troubleshooting to minutes.
If something is not playing
Nearly every playback complaint comes down to one of six things, and each has its own fix page.
Frequently asked questions
Which device is best for Apollo Group TV?
For most people, the Fire TV Stick 4K Max — it is inexpensive, sold everywhere, and runs TiviMate comfortably. If you watch a lot of live sport, an NVIDIA Shield or onn 4K Pro is a better buy because both have an Ethernet port and hold high-bitrate 4K feeds at peak time. If your household is already on Apple, the Apple TV 4K needs no sideloading at all.
Can I use Apollo Group TV on more than one device?
Yes. Your subscription installs on as many devices as you like — the limit is on simultaneous streams, not installations. A single-connection plan means one screen playing at a time; multi-connection plans raise that. Set up the TV, the phone and the tablet from the same credentials and switch freely between them.
Do I need to buy a new device?
Usually not. If you own a Fire TV Stick, an Android or Google TV box, an Apple TV, a Samsung or LG smart TV from 2017 onward, a phone, or a Windows PC, you already have everything you need. The only device we suggest replacing is Roku, because it blocks the apps that make IPTV pleasant to use.
How long does setup actually take?
Three to five minutes on most devices, and around seven on a MAG or Formuler box because the portal and MAC registration take an extra step. The credentials arrive on WhatsApp, so the slow part is usually installing the player app, not configuring it.
Do I need a VPN?
It is optional. Apollo works without one, but a VPN keeps your streaming private from your ISP and can help if your provider throttles video traffic. If you do use one, pick a server close to you — a distant endpoint adds latency that looks exactly like buffering.
What if my device is not on this list?
If it runs Android, iOS, webOS, Tizen, Windows or Linux, it will run Apollo Group TV. Message us on WhatsApp with the model and we will tell you which player to install and send the exact settings. The general installation guide covers the pattern every device follows.
