Stremio IPTV: How to Add Your M3U Playlist and Guide (2026)

By the Apollo Group TV teamHow we write and check guides

Part of the guide to choosing an IPTV player. Related: M3U links vs Xtream Codes logins · IPTV on Kodi

Stremio IPTV needs an addon, because Stremio has no built-in way to load an IPTV subscription. You install a community M3U playlist addon, paste your M3U link and XMLTV guide link into its settings, and your live channels appear in Stremio. The app is free on Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, Android TV and recent Samsung and LG TVs. Stremio cannot log in with Xtream Codes, so ask us for the M3U version of your Apollo Group TV login.

This guide walks you through setting up IPTV on Stremio using an M3U playlist and EPG, on any device. If you don't have an Apollo Group TV plan yet, start with a free 24-hour IPTV trial.

Stremio vs IPTV: What Is the Difference?

Stremio is an app; IPTV is a service. Stremio is a free media centre that shows whatever its addons give it, and it comes with no live channels of its own. An IPTV service such as Apollo Group TV supplies the live channels and the guide as an M3U playlist. A Stremio IPTV addon is the bridge: it reads your playlist and puts the channels inside Stremio.

Many Stremio addons supply streams themselves, and those have nothing to do with your subscription. This guide covers only an M3U playlist addon that plays the playlist you pay for.

Stremio is the app, the IPTV service is the source, and an M3U addon connects them.

Troubleshooting IPTV on Stremio

❓ Channels not loading in Stremio

Check that your M3U URL is correct. Try opening the URL directly in a browser — if it downloads a file, the URL is working. Refresh the addon settings.

❓ EPG not showing program info

Make sure you pasted the EPG URL correctly in the addon settings. EPG can take 5–10 minutes to load the first time. Try clicking Refresh EPG if available.

❓ Stremio buffering on Firestick

Stremio can buffer on older Firesticks. Try clearing the Stremio cache, closing background apps, or switching to a lower quality stream. Ethernet via adapter improves performance significantly.

❓ Stremio not found in Amazon App Store

Stremio is not available on the Amazon App Store. On Firestick, sideload Stremio using the Downloader app by entering the Stremio APK download URL. This works on Fire OS sticks only: Vega OS models (Fire TV Stick 4K 3rd Gen, 4K Select and HD) cannot install apps from outside the Amazon Appstore.

❓ Channels playing but no sound

This is usually an audio codec issue. In Stremio settings, go to Player → Audio and switch the audio output or try a different audio track.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Stremio a good IPTV player?

It works well if you already use Stremio for films and series and want live channels in the same app. For a dedicated IPTV experience with a full TV guide and an Xtream Codes login, TiviMate or IPTV Smarters Pro is more polished.

What IPTV addon should I use on Stremio?

A community M3U playlist addon that lets you paste your own playlist link and guide link. Pick one whose developer you can identify, and avoid addons that bring their own channels or ask for payment details: those are not playing your subscription.

Can I watch live sports on Stremio?

Yes, if your IPTV subscription includes sports channels. With Apollo Group TV's M3U playlist loaded into Stremio, you can watch sports and news channels live within Stremio.

Does Stremio support Xtream Codes IPTV?

Stremio doesn't natively support Xtream Codes API login. For Xtream Codes-based IPTV services, you'd need to convert your subscription to an M3U URL (Apollo Group TV provides both). Alternatively, use TiviMate or IPTV Smarters Pro which natively support Xtream Codes.

Is Stremio free?

Yes, Stremio is a free app on Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, Android TV and recent Samsung and LG TVs; in the US, iPhone and iPad get a limited web version. Your IPTV subscription is separate: Apollo Group TV starts at $19.99 for 1 month.

Does IPTV on Stremio include an EPG (TV guide)?

Yes, if you add your EPG URL to the M3U addon settings. Apollo Group TV provides an EPG URL alongside your M3U playlist URL. Once added, Stremio displays a program guide for all channels.
