Which IPTV Recorder Should You Use?
Pick the IPTV recorder by device: TiviMate Premium on a Firestick or Android TV box, VLC to record from IPTV on a PC while you watch, and a Plex, Emby or Jellyfin server when you want recordings to start on their own for every screen. Smart TV apps usually cannot record.
Method 1: Record IPTV with TiviMate (Firestick / Android TV)

Method 3: Record IPTV on PC With VLC

Can You Record IPTV on a Samsung or LG Smart TV?
Usually not inside the IPTV app itself. The USB recording built into Samsung and LG TVs is designed for the TV's own antenna or cable tuner, and IPTV apps running on Tizen or webOS generally have no option to write a recording to a USB drive.
That leaves three practical routes on a smart TV:
- ▸Use catch-up for anything from the past seven days on channels that support it.
- ▸Add a streaming stick such as a Firestick or Android TV box and record there with TiviMate.
- ▸Record on a home server and watch the files on the TV through the Plex, Emby or Jellyfin app.
LG owners can check the recording options on an LG TV for model-specific detail.
What to Do When an IPTV Recording Fails
Match the symptom to the fix. Most failures are storage or connection problems rather than the stream.
Long recordings stop at about 4 GB
The drive is formatted FAT32, which cannot hold a single file larger than 4 GB, so a long HD recording, such as a full game or film, gets cut off. Reformat it as exFAT (or NTFS on a Windows PC) after copying off anything you want to keep.
TiviMate cannot see the USB drive
Check the OTG adapter has power, unplug and reconnect the drive, and choose the drive again under the recording folder setting.
The recording is empty or only a few seconds long
The stream dropped when it started. Play the channel live first to confirm it works, then schedule again with a start margin of a few minutes.
A scheduled recording never started
The device was asleep, the app was closed by the system, or another device was already using your connection. Keep the box on, and check how many screens your plan covers.
The file plays with no sound or a black picture
Open it in VLC on a computer. If it plays there, the TV player cannot decode the format; switch the player's decoder or watch it in VLC.
